MANILA - Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Tuesday he was considering deploying inspection teams to monitor compliance with new guidelines on contractualization.

The new rules, which aim to stop "endo" or illegal contractualization, was released last week after nine months of negotiations between workers and employers. It listed 11 prohibited practices.

"Within the next few days, magki-create na ako ng regional inspection team para walang gawin kundi tingnan iyung hindi susunod dito sa department order," Bello told DZMM.

(Within the next few days, I will create a regional team whose sole mandate will be to monitor violators of the department order.)

Labor groups could be tapped to reinforce the department's 500 labor law compliance officers, Bello said.

President Rodrigo Duterte promised during last year's campaignt to “endo” or hiring and ending contracts to avoid paying benefits due to regular employees.
