MANILA -- Mary Rose Ditsos only wanted her crush to notice her, but her attempts at flirting has instead taken social media by storm.
With over 20,000 shares, Rose proved that selling goods in her cousin's sari-sari store, coupled with some random dancing, can make for compelling content for international viewers.
Now she is back with another viral video, joining the bandwagon as she dances to the global hit "Despacito."
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Rose admitted she was surprised and overwhelmed by the popularity of her videos, which has now reached Thailand. A local media company has reached out to Rose for her posts, she shared.
"Parang wala po sa akin, upload-upload lang... 'Di po ako makapaniwala, natuwa rin po ako. Hindi ko in-expect na ganito mangyayari," she said.
The 20-year-old is also ecstatic that her followers on Facebook zoomed to more than 24,000 after her videos went viral.
Despite the growing number of well-wishers and new fans, Rose's social media account is also bombarded by bashers. However, she remains upbeat that her posts can make netizens laugh.
"Mali po ba 'yung magpasaya ng tao? Basta may napapasaya akong iba, masaya na rin ako."
Showdown with Vice Ganda
Rose told ABS-CBN News that her videos are inspired by her dance idol, comedian Vice Ganda.
"Sinusunod ko talaga 'yung mga sayaw niya minsan," she admitted.
And given a chance, she is ready to face her idol in a dance showdown. "Baka gusto niya hamunin ako ng showdown, why not? Ready ako."
Rose's newfound online fame has already brought her television air time. She has appeared in ABS-CBN's "Rated K" with one of her videos titled "Nagmahal, Nasaktan, Nabuwang (Nabaliw)."
