PBA: Despite lack of games, Wright's numbers pace chase for top rookie nod

Matthew Wright may have played a lot less games than his fellow PBA first-timers, but he made sure he left an impact whenever he was on the court.

So much so that he's leading the season-ending statistical points race for rookie of the year.

The sharp-shooting Phoenix swingman collected 26.07 points, accumulated based on individual statistics and his team's performance after three conferences.

He played in only 26 games this season, his stints in the Commissioner's Cup and Governors' Cup limited because of his participation in international competition for Gilas Pilipinas.

TNT's Roger Pogoy and Star's Jio Jalalon, also Gilas mainstays, finished second and third with 22.29 and 21.5 points, respectively.

Pogoy played in 58 games this season, while Jalalon suited up for 48.

Rounding out the top 5 are Barangay Ginebra's Kevin Ferrer and Kia's Reden Celda.
