MANILA, Philippines -- There is no hype needed when Ateneo de Manila University does battle with De La Salle University.

And yet, there is much more than bragging rights at stake in the archrivals’ first meeting in the UAAP 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The defending champion Green Archers are standing in the way of a first round sweep for the league-leading Blue Eagles on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

The bell rings on Round 1 of the most heated rivalry in the country at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.

Behind what is becoming their trademark total team effort, Ateneo has rang off six consecutive victories to start the season. As such, their confidence is at its highest as they meet the team that downed them in the Finals a season ago.

Just as confident that the opposite would be happening, however, is Ben Mbala-led DLSU which mightily rebounded after its first loss in the season with back-to-back blowouts. At 6-1, they have their sights set on the top spot currently occupied by their archrivals.

-- Struggling squads UP and NU dispute much-needed bounce back --

After a big win against De La Salle University in the UAAP 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament, the University of the Philippines has now lost back-to-back.

And including a close loss to the same DLSU, National University has now dropped three games in a row.

The Fighting Maroons and the Bulldogs want nothing more than to get back on track when they are pitted against one another at the MOA Arena, Sunday.

UP (3-3) and NU (2-4) hope to raise their respective records after their matchup tipping off at 12:00 PM. All of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.
