MANILA, Philippines — Members of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas basketball team got their first look at their import when Isaiah Austin practiced with them for the first time at the Meralco Gym on Wednesday night.
The 7-foot-1 Austin arrived in Manila on Tuesday night after a 19-hour flight from California that included a stopover in Tokyo.
But the 23-year-old player showed no signs of jetlag as he effortlessly dunked in drills with the team.
Austin is being eyed as a potential naturalized player for Gilas Pilipinas, but he will first be the import for the Chooks-to-Go team that will compete in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup later this month.
Joining Austin in practice were: Kiefer Ravena, Calvin Abueva, Jeron Teng, Terrence Romeo, Jeric Teng, Jonathan Grey and Norbert Torres.
Also present were: Gab Banal, Raymar Jose, Bright Akhuetie, Achie Iñigo, and Jett Manuel.
Robbie Herndon, Mikee Reyes, and JK Casiño completed Wednesday's group.
