After starting pool play on a high, the Philippines ended its first day of the 2017 FIBA 3x3 World Cup on a down note.

Hosts France relentlessly pounced on the Chooks-Pilipinas 3x3 crew, dropping a 22-11 hammer Sunday [Monday, PHL time] in the city of Nantes.

Banking on their impeccable shooting, the French pulled away in the second half of their 10-minute matchup with the Filipinos, unloading a quick string of points to top Pool B with a perfect 2-0 record and 43 points.

Slovenia is no. 2 with the same record but with only 42 points.

After beating Romania earlier in the day, the Philippines engaged France in a tight contest early on, trailing only by one, 4-5, after Kobe Paras' straightaway jumper from deep for two points.

However, the French ran circles against the 18th-seeded Filipinos the rest of the way, flashing a dominant performance to cap Day 1 of Pool B action.

The Philippines sit at third in Pool B with a 1-1 record for 32 points.

Only the top-2 finishers per group will move on to the next round and the Filipinos will face Slovenia and El Salvador on Tuesday [Wednesday, PHL time].
