MANILA, Philippines – Retired boxer Bobby Pacquiao also wants to join Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) expansion team KIA Motors.

The younger brother of Manny Pacquiao was among those who participated in the tryout conducted by the boxing superstar, who is currently assembling a PBA team.

Nicknamed “The Sniper,” Bobby campaigned in the super featherweight up to the lightweight divisions during the 1990s to mid-2000s.

“Excited ako. First time ko nag-try out, okay naman ang laro,” Bobby said after participating during the tryout at the Sta. Lucia gym in Cainta, Rizal. “Lagi naman kaming naglalaro kahit sa Gensan pa.”

As a boxer, Bobby compiled a professional record of 31 wins and 15 losses. But he’s not the only Pacquiao, who is trying his luck with KIA Motors.

Six-foot-seven Rene Pacquiao was also invited to participate in the try-out.

“Parang tiyuhin ko s’ya, kasi noong maliit palang ako, nung nawala ang papa ko nung 2007, sabi nila magpunta ako kay manny,” said Rene. “Ngayon tinawagan n’ya ko, sabi n’ya ‘magtry out ka sa PBA.’”

Rene has played in smaller leagues.

“Sana makuha ko [‘yung slot], nandito na ko eh… pangarap ko talagang mag-PBA,” he said.
