MANILA, Philippines—One winning streak will be halted when Akari-Adamson and Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare face off in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Both the Falcons and the Coffee Lovers have won back-to-back games heading into Thursday's showdown.

Game time is at 2 p.m, followed by the San Sebastian-Jose Rizal University clash at 4 p.m.

For Akari-Adamson coach Franz Pumaren, this game serves as another opportunity to see his team's potential.

"What we're doing is we want the players to react," Pumaren said. "We're trying to improve the overall individual skills of our players . . . We just want the players to adjust to the situation, because down the road, I believe that could help us."

The Falcons are coming off an 84-75 win over Che'Lu Bar&Grill-San Sebastian last Monday.

Pumaren is counting on star guard Jerrick Ahanmisi for leadership, as they gun for a third straight win.

Gamboa Coffee Mix mentor Jinino Manansala said the game against Adamson is another opportunity to prove that his team belongs among the league's elite.

"Gusto lang naming magbigay ng statement," he said. "We want to get the respect we deserve."

The Coffee Lovers are coming off a surprising 93-76 thumping of JRU.
