Manny Pacquiao is interested to fight Argentina’s Lucas Matthysse, and said he'd like to see the bout happen in the first half of the year.
“I want Matthysse,” Pacquiao said in an article on BoxingScene.com.
“This is the fight that I like, a fight fans would also like to see. I can fight in April or even May."
One reason he's keen to fight Matthysse is to get his world title.
The heavy-handed Argentine stopped Tewa Kiram of Thailand in 8 rounds to capture the “regular” version of the WBA welterweight title.
And apparently, Matthysse wants to fight Pacquiao, too.
Freddie Roach said a member of Matthysse's team visited him at Wild Card Gym recently.
"I took (his trainer) downstairs (at the Wild Card Gym), I gave him the tour a little bit, he pointed at a picture of Pacquiao and said, 'We want him' and I said, 'I would love for you to have him,' " Roach said.
"I think it's a great fight, two guys who are a little bit older and not as big of punchers as they once were but it's a very good action-packed fight."
