MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University (FEU) improved to 3-0, while Adamson University got its first win of the UAAP Season 80 men's volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Tamaraws, the only remaining undefeated team in the league, extended its perfect start to three matches after defeating De La Salle University in four sets, 25-22, 15-25, 30-28, 25-22.
Four players scored in double-digits for FEU, led by JP Bugaoan who had 19 points on 14 attacks, three blocks, and two aces. Richard Solis added 14 points for the Tamaraws.
FEU put on a block party to frustrate La Salle, as they had 13 kill blocks in the contest. The Green Archers still managed to put up 64 spikes in the game, but ultimately could not get battle past the Tamaraws' net defense.
Arjay Onia had 22 points and Raymark Woo added 20 in a losing effort. La Salle now has a 1-2 win-loss slate.
Meanwhile, the Adamson Soaring Falcons finally scored their first win after opening their campaign with back-to-back losses by taking down University of the Philippines (UP), 22-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-19.
It was a come-from-behind win for the Soaring Falcons, who needed to buck a slow start and claim a tight victory in the second set. That gave them the momentum they needed, and Adamson outplayed the Fighting Maroons the rest of the way.
Paolo Pablico led five Adamson players in double-digits with 23 points. The Soaring Falcons torched the UP defense for 62 kills in the game.
Wendel Miguel had 16 points for UP, which dropped to 1-2 in the tournament.
