MANILA, Philippines — Virtually every member of the Philippine men’s national basketball team attended Tuesday night’s training session at Meralco Gym.
Troy Rosario, who suffered a scary head injury in TNT's game against Phoenix in the PBA Philippine Cup last week and missed the Barangay Ginebra game on Sunday, attended practice and actively participated in drills.
Also in attendance was Calvin Abueva, whose status for the upcoming FIBA World Cup qualifying window is still uncertain after he was removed from the active pool by coach Chot Reyes.
They were joined by naturalized center Andray Blatche, who practiced with Gilas Pilipinas for only the second time.
Also in attendance were: Kevin Alas, Matthew Wright, Jio Jalalon, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Roger Pogoy, Allein Maliksi, Carl Bryan Cruz, June Mar Fajardo and Jayson Castro.
Mac Belo was present but did not take part in practice, as he is dealing with a right-thigh injury.
Kiefer Ravena was also at Meralco Gym but did not practice, as he is dealing with flu-like symptoms.
CJ Perez, Arvin Tolentino and Kenneth Tuffin of the #23for23 cadet pool also attended Tuesday’s training session. Robert Bolick was also there but did not practice, because of a right-knee injury.
Gilas has ramped up its practices ahead of the second window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
They will fly to Melbourne on February 19 and play Australia on February 22. They will then host Japan at the Mall of Asia Arena on February 25.
