Stanley Pringle scored 29 points, as GlobalPort defeated Rain Or Shine 78-70 in a battle of two teams that struggled to put up points in the PBA Philippine Cup at Mall of Asia Arena on Friday.

GlobalPort won its first game in 3 starts, while Rain Or Shine fell to 1-2.

Ahead 62-61 with 7 minutes to go, GlobalPort scored 8 straight, 5 by Pringle, to go up 70-61, a comfortable enough cushion to subdue a Rain Or Shine team that was cold on offense.

"We hit our target, iyong 80 points below," GlobalPort coach Pido Jarencio said, referring to Rain Or Shine's production.

"For now kasi parang worst team kami sa scores allowed. We're giving up 109 points per game. Pinag-usapan namin na kailangan dumepensa kami. Tonight we played great defense. Lahat tumulong nag-contribute."

Without Terrence Romeo, Pringle has flourished in his backcourt mate's absence.

Against the Elasto Painters, he shot 12 of 24 from the field and made 5 3-pointers. He also had 9 rebounds.

Pringle's decent shooting notwithstanding, both teams were atrocious from the floor.

GlobalPort shot 36% from the field, missing 55 attempts overall, while Rain Or Shine was worse, making only 29% from the floor and missing 61 shots.

Sean Anthony finished with career-highs in rebounds (13) and assists (12), to go with 3 points.

Gabe Norwood led Rain Or Shine with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
