MOSCOW – The Philippines and Russia both agreed to have a model employment contract for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Cayetano met with his counterpart, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, in Moscow on May 15.

They have a direct line and connection with President [Rodrigo] Duterte. Never naman tayong nagkaroon ng conflict sa mga Russians,” Cayetano said.

A bilateral agreement is being pushed to open up a working visa category for household service workers in Russia.

“As of now, may hope po kami dito sa mga OFW sa Russia na maayos ang lagay namin dito sa mga susunod na mga taon, na sana on work na ang kanilang pag-uusap. Basta meron kaming pag-asa na,” said Rhea Girafel, an OFW in Moscow.

Meanwhile, Cayetano said an appointment for labor attaché in Russia is also being endorsed.
