MANILA - Tropical storm Odette has made landfall over Sta. Ana, Cagayan province, the state weather bureau said Friday.
In its 2 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the tropical cyclone made landfall around 12:40 a.m.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected within the storm's 350-kilometer diameter.
Odette is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph. It is moving west at 26 kph.
Public storm warning signal number 2 remains hoisted over Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan group of islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.
Storm signal number 1, meanwhile, is raised over Isabela, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao and Ilocos Sur.
Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of northern Luzon.
The tropical storm is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility between Friday night and Saturday morning.
