MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has tapped former Gabriela party-list Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan as undersecretary at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Duterte signed Ilagan's appointment paper on Sept. 13.
Ilagan, a Davaoeña, is a staunch supporter of the President. She came to his defense when the then President-elect drew flak for catcalling a female journalist in May last year.
Ilagan also ran for Davao City Councilor under Duterte’s local political party Hugpong in the last elections, but lost.
Duterte has yet to name his new DSWD Secretary following the Commission on Appointment's rejection of activist Judy Taguiwalo.
