Here are some stories ANC will be covering today:
Many OFWs are afraid of losing their jobs and spending time in jail over grounded flights caused by the NAIA runway shutdown. They fear they may no longer have jobs when they fly to the countries where they work. Also, 2 senators are calling for an upgrade for our airport. Airport authorities are scrambling to restore their operations. MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal also called on airlines to face irate passengers.
Is there any solution to Metro Manila’s traffic problem. The MMDA is trying many approaches and had to withdraw the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) scheme after protests. There are reports the agency would be trying another type of odd-even scheme. MMDA Gen. Manager Jojo Garcia will be guest on ANC’s Headstart to give us the latest on government’s efforts to ease traffic.
Trip to China
President Duterte’s economic team is off to China this week for high-level meetings on China-funded infrastructure projects in the country. Foreign Affairs Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano is also included in the trip and would likely join talks on the framework of the joint exploration in the West Philippine Sea.
The Senate will hold a 9 am hearing on the Boracay closure. Hopefully, there would be updates on the reopening of the island as well as efforts to clean the island paradise.
ANC will give updates on the progress of the Philippine delegation to the Asian Games. The taekwondo poomsae team won the first medals for the Philippines.
- ANC will give you the latest on the search for the new Chief Justice. There are reports there would be a vote to elect the Chief Justice.
