MANILA - Rainy weather is expected in Metro Manila and Central Luzon as the southwest monsoon (habagat) continues to prevail over northern parts of the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Cavite, and Batangas will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while isolated thunderstorms may occur in other parts of Luzon, PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. briefing.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a low pressure area brewing 1,200 kilometers east of Southern Luzon.

The LPA that is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is not expected to develop into a storm in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.

Severe tropical storm Soulik located 2,060 km east north-east of Luzon, and tropical storm Rumbia located 1110 km north north-east of Luzon is not expected to enter PAR, weather forecasters said.
