TANGUB CITY — About 20 armed men harassed construction workers of a government project in Barangay Fertig Hills in this Misamis Occidental city Friday afternoon.

Workers said the perpetrators came from the grassy area of the forest and introduced themselves as members of the New People's Army.

The armed men burned equipment owned by DL Enterprises, including a mini dump truck, a mixer and a welding machine, which cost about P600,000.

The armed men fled after the incident.

Authorities have yet to determine the perpetrators' motives.

Meanwhile, the construction of the view deck was temporarily stopped and will be resumed as soon as authorities say it's safe to continue with the project.
