Two alleged drug personalities were killed in a buy-bust operation in Culasi town, Antique on Friday.
The suspects were identified as Hernan Calforo and Fidel Natabio, 18, who are both from Iloilo City.
Police Sr. Insp. Mark Dado said their operation turned bloody after Calforo allegedly ran when he sensed that he was surrounded by operatives.
Calforo allegedly grabbed his .38-caliber revolver and tried to fire at the operatives.
Dado said Natabio also pulled his firearm and attempted to shoot at the police, which led the officers to retaliate.
Police recovered from the suspects 10 small sachets of suspected shabu, two .38-caliber revolvers with ammunition, and a vehicle.
Based on surveillance done by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Calforo allegedly operates a public utility van transporting passengers from Iloilo to Antique, but authorities monitoring him said he also allegedly sells illegal drugs in Antique towns.
Based on the result of autopsies, Calforo and Natabio suffered fatal wounds to the chest.
Romeo Natabio Sr., Fidel’s father, denied that his son was engaged in the illegal-drug trade.
Antique PDEU confirmed that Calforo is under a “prevendido” drug group that gets its supply of drugs in Caticlan, Aklan and Roxas City, Capiz.
