MANILA - Weather bureau PAGASA issued a Red Warning Level over Metro Manila and the province of Rizal on Saturday afternoon due to rains caused by the southwest monsoon and enhanced by tropical storm Karding.
PAGASA said flood-prone areas will experience serious flooding and advised residents to take necessary precautionary measures.
The provinces of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan and northern Quezon were placed under Yellow Warning level where flooding was threatening low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains were affecting Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas and the rest of Quezon which may persist within 3 hours.
Several cities in Metro Manila have suspended classes due to heavy downpour and flooding in their areas.
On Saturday morning, PAGASA said tropical storm Karding has left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) but that it would continue to enhance the habagat, bringing scattered to widespread rains over areas in Luzon and Metro Manila.
