Edwin Daguplo has been working for 10 years as a security guard at the Philippine Ports Authority in Cagayan de Oro City.
On Saturday morning, while riding a passenger jeepney on his way to work, he found a lost wallet containing cash worth P8,220, ID cards and documents.
Without hesitation, Daguplo turned the wallet in to authorities, saying he knows what it feels like to lose one.
"Aside from the money lost, it will take time and much effort to replace all your identification and ATM cards," Daguplo said.
Macabalan police chief Sr. Insp. Sebastian Chua contacted the owner, Kharl Kyrill Dian, to return the item.
"We immediately called him when we found his contact number on his wallet. Dian said the money was intended for his daughter's birthday," he said.
Authorities and Dian said they are thankful for Daguplo's honesty and hopes that Daguplo sets a good example for others.
