MANILA – Did you know that Heart Evangelista has been painting since she was a little girl?
The actress made the revelation during her latest exhibit, “In Full Bloom,” at the Ayala Museum.
In an interview with Metro.Style, Evangelista said she sees herself first as an artist before a celebrity.
“I think that was my first career,” she said. “Then I wanted to become a vet, then I wanted to become an ice skater, then an artista. So it was always first an artist.”
“I painted ever since I was young. But it was just recently, 2013, that I started to really paint again,” she added.
Evangelista said she loves painting because it feels like “writing on a diary but without the words, so there’s no judgment.”
“[It’s just] Letting people understand on their own how I felt at that certain time,” she explained.
Referring to her exhibit, “In Full Bloom,” she said: “For me, as a woman, I feel like I’m in full bloom. I feel I’m about to enter a certain chapter of my life where I’m preparing to be a mother. And I just feel like as a woman, I’m just whole. So I decided to come up with this exhibit to kind of express that emotion.”
“I would say some of my paintings are sad, but I mean that’s like life. It’s not always happy. But the bright colors would probably express me being very hopeful and positive about the situation.”
"In Full Bloom" runs until April 12 at ArtistSpace of Ayala Museum, Makati City.
