Maude Tabigue, a 26-year old medicine graduate of Southwestern University Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine in Cebu City could not contain her happiness after she placed 4th in the Physician Licensure Exams.
Out of 1,317 examinees, only 813 passed, including Tabigue who obtained a rating of 87, placing 4th.
Tabigue said passing the board exam was a dream come true, becoming the only doctor in their clan in Carmen, Bohol.
"I offer this (success) to God, and to my family of course," she said.
Apart from her family, her boyfriend of two years Lui Alvarez was a huge source of inspiration, Tabigue said.
"It's possible, really. You just have to help each other, avoid unnecessary conflict and be each other's study buddy," Tabigue said.
Alvarez also passed the board exam.
The couple met at medical school and reviewed together for the board exam.
Tabique said she plans to go home to Bohol for a vacation before working in a hospital in Cebu City, specializing in internal medicine.
