Millions of Filipinos joined Muslims around the world in celebrating Eid’l Fitr, as they ended their fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. Confirmation of the celebration came after the new moon was spotted on Thursday evening.

Eid’l Fitr marks the first day of the 10th month of the Islamic calendar called Shawwal.

The celebration began with morning prayers held in different parts of the country and meals shared with members of the family. It is a practice for Muslim families to donate food, an act called “sadaqah al-fitr,” to the less fortunate a day before Eid'l Fitr.

Here are select images on how Filipino Muslims celebrated the day.
