Voters picked candidates for more than 670,000 leadership posts from barangay chairman, council leaders, and their youth counterparts during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections that finally pushed through on Monday following delays the past years.

The barangay elections were not devoid of allegations on corruption and questions on leadership.

Millions of Filipinos went out to elect their community leaders, who help deliver basic needs of their constituents.

The Commission on Elections noted a high turnout of voters, expecting at least 75% voting for barangay positions.
