Louise delos Reyes
Twenty four-year-old actress Louise delos Reyes is now with ABS-CBN. Her first project as a Kapamilya actress is “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” where she plays SPO3 Katrina Velasco. Her debut episode on the series aired early last month. Prior to transferring to ABS-CBN, delos Reyes has appeared in numerous TV shows in GMA-7. Transferring networks doesn't come any more surprising than this. Widely regarded as the primetime star of GMA-7 then, Locsin stunned the Kapuso faithful back in 2007 when she decided not to renew her contract with the network and instead jump to ABS-CBN.
As a Kapamilya, Locsin has starred in a number of Star Cinema movies ("One More Try," "Everything About Her," and "The Third Party) and led the hit primetime series "The Legal Wife." She also became one of the judges for the latest season of "Pilipinas Got Talent."
In 2015, Locsin renewed her contract with ABS-CBN. A sign of "moving forward" after the disappointment of having to back out of a "Darna" adaptation due to a spine injury, it includes an appearance in "La Luna Sangre," as well as a movie with Richard Gutierrez and Angelica Panganiban. As a Kapuso from 2011 to 2014, Daza was a co-host of the noontime show "Eat Bulaga" and the lifestyle magazine program "Taste Buddies." She was also one of the lead stars of the afternoon series "Faithfully."
Daza inked her contract with ABS-CBN in November 2014. Among her first projects as a Kapamilya is the upcoming fantaserye "Nathaniel." Of her transfer, Daza said, "I wanted a new challenge in my life and I wanted to try something I haven't done and, yes, I wanted to expand my horizons and take this journey as an actress naman." A GMA-7 artist for 10 years since 2001, Calzado was then known for her roles in several drama series, including "Te Amo, Maging Sino Ka Man," "Encantadia," "Impostora," "All About Eve" and "Beauty Queen."
When she transferred to ABS-CBN in 2012, Calzado said: "I'm very grateful for all my years [with GMA-7], of course, but he (Calzado's father, the late director Lito Calzado) was one with me in wanting new things for me and my career. He wanted me to spread my wings and fly." As a Kapamilya, Calzado's latest project is a role in "A Love to Last." Photo from @missizacalzado on Instagram
Cuenca rose to popularity in 2004 via the teen-oriented series "Click." During his three-year stay as a Kapuso, the heartthrob actor got supporting roles in various series, such as "Encantadia" and "Majika."
A Kapamilya star for more than a decade now, Cuenca has been been cast in numerous drama series either as the leading man ("Maria Mercedes," "Rubi," "Palos") or the main antagonist ("Ikaw Lamang," "Tayong Dalawa").
In 2012, six years after he switched networks, Cuenca revealed the reason behind his decision. "I wanted, I needed something with substance. I wanted to act na talaga, and gusto ko na talaga ipakita sa tao na handa na ako, hinog na ako for this. And ABS was willing to give me that break," he said.

Reyes entered showbiz in 2003 via GMA-7's talent search "StarStruck," where she finished as a finalist, and was subsequently cast in a string of supporting roles. Her Kapuso projects include "Hanggang Kailan," "Captain Barbell" and "Super Twins."
An ABS-CBN star since 2008, Reyes has top-billed several projects, including "Eva Fonda," "Kristine," "Reputasyon," "Tubig at Langis," and "I Can Do That." She was also part of the Star Cinema productions "The Reunion" and "My Brother's Romance."
Of her transfer, the actress said at the time: "Ayoko na, lilipat na ako, at may ibang projects ako na gustong gawin... Business ito. Siguro mas ginagamit ko lang ang utak ko." Photo from @mrscristinekhatibi on Instagram
Another "StarStruck" alumnus, Paulo Avelino was a GMA-7 artist for five years until 2011. As a Kapuso, he appeared in "Luna Mystika," "All My Life," "Ilumina" and "Alakdana."
When he transferred to ABS-CBN, Avelino said: "Kapamilya actors and actresses… it's different. It's different in a way na they're very serious about their craft. They're very dedicated sa work nila. I've worked with a few Kapamilyas pa lang and I can say that its an honor to work with different Kapamilya stars."
Now on his sixth year as a Kapamilya, Avelino is preparing for another leading man role, this time in "The Promise of Forever" with Ritz Azul. He was also the male lead in "Honesto," "Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon," "Kahit Konting Pagtingin," and "Bridges of Love," aside from being the third wheel in the James Reid and Nadine Lustre-led romantic drama "On the Wings of Love. JC de Vera
After starring in GMA-7's "Click" in 2003, de Vera stayed with the network for six years, before transferring to TV5. Among his projects as a Kapuso were "Now and Forever," "LaLola" and "Ngayon at Kailanman."
In 2014, he juggled two drama series as a newcomer to ABS-CBN -- "The Legal Wife" and "Moon of Desire." He also led "You're My Home" with Jessy Mendiola, and currently appears in "The Better Half." In a previous interview, he said: "Of course when I transferred, bigger opportunities 'yung inabutan ko talaga dito (ABS-CBN) and maganda, maganda talaga 'yung takbo [ng career ko]." A social media sensation at the time, Adarna was tapped by GMA-7 in 2010 to appear in a number of its shows, including "Bubble Gang," "Captain Barbell" and "Indio." However, it wasn't until 2013, when she signed up as a Kapamilya, that she felt she reached a new level of popularity.
In a July 2014 interview, Adarna said: "When I was with the other network, 'Ano'ng... What are you doing now? What are your shows?' 'Uh, I'm part of this show.' 'Ay, nandoon ka pala!' Iba 'yung audience ng ABS-CBN talaga. Iba talaga 'yung impact."
For the Kapamilya network, Adarna has topbilled "Moon of Desire" and "Pasion de Amor." She also had roles in "The Greatest Love" and "Langit Lupa." Photo from @maria.elena.adarna on Instagram
As a GMA-7 artist for seven years until 2005, Gonzaga was best known for her hosting stint in the noontime show "Eat Bulaga." She continued hosting programs when she transferred to ABS-CBN, but also successfully ventured into acting and music.
Now dubbed the "Ultimate Multimedia Star," Gonzaga has released six albums under Star Records, starred in 11 Star Cinema films, and hosted various Kapamilya programs, notably "The Buzz," "Pinoy Big Brother" and "The Voice of the Philippines."
In a 2011 interview, she said: "When I transferred to ABS, that's the best highlight of my career, or the best decision I've made in my life. Kasi when I transferred to ABS, they did not only make me host, they also made me sing, act. So, nama-maximize lahat ng gusto kong gawin. I was given the title Multimedia Star because of ABS-CBN." Elmo Magalona transferred to ABS-CBN in 2015. His first project as a Kapamilya actor was the TV series “Born For You,” where he was paired with Janella Salvador. He also appears on the variety program “ASAP” from time to time, and has headlined the Star Cinema movie “Bloody Crayons” which also starred Salvador. Although she was part of ABS-CBN's "Ang TV" in 1992, Magalona as an adult was identified with GMA-7, where she stayed for nine years until 2013. Since signing up as a Kapamilya last year, she has appeared in "Maalaala Mo Kaya," "It's Showtime," "Dream Dad," and "Doble Kara." Of her transfer, Magalona said in November: "I want to grow as an artist. I want to explore. Gusto kong gumawa ng mas marami pang roles at makatrabaho ang mas marami pang artista, for a change of scenery." Photo from @maxenemagalona on Instagram
The daughter of music veteran Zsa Zsa Padilla joined showbiz in 2001 via GMA'7s "SOP," which she co-hosted for seven years -- the same amount of time she stayed with the network. As a Kapuso, she also appeared in the "Encantadia" and "Etheria." Counting nine years as a Kapamilya, Karylle is currently seen as a mainstay of "It's Showtime." Photo from @anakarylle on Instagram
Curtis, Karylle's co-host on "It's Showtime," was a Kapuso for six years until 2003. Among her projects at the time were "Anna Karenina," "TGIS" and "Beh Bote Nga." As a Kapamilya, Curtis graduated from supporting roles with projects like "Kampanerang Kuba," "Maging Sino Ka Man," "Dyosa," "Green Rose," "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" and "Dyesebel."
After endearing herself to audiences through "It's Showtime," the self-confessed "non-singer" launched a successful recording career. In a February 2013 interview, Curtis referred to her ABS-CBN transfer as "life-changing." Of her noontime show, she said: "It definitely helped change my career altogether. People got to see who I was as a person. When I act, I get roles that are either fashionista or mayaman or kontrabida. But they saw how kalog I am in real life which is really, really who I am." Unknown to many, the "Forevermore" and "Dolce Amore" star was a GMA-7 artist -- for a week. She auditioned to join ABS-CBN's Star Magic and counterpart GMA Artist Center at around the same time, but it was the latter that first offered her a contract. Although projects, including an appearance in a movie, were already lined up for her as a GMA talent, Soberano said she didn't think twice to prematurely end her contract and take up ABS-CBN's offer.
She explained in a November 2014 interview: "Noong pumunta ako doon (GMA), alam mo 'yung... I didn't feel at home. Siyempre gusto ko kung magtatrabaho ako, masaya ako sa [environment ko]... Hindi ko lang na-feel. Kasi dati palang, ABS na po ang pinapanood ko, so gusto ko talaga ABS."

After winning the debut season of "Pinoy Pop Superstar," Jona became one of GMA-7's most promising singers. She soon joined the pop girl trio La Diva, and regularly performed for the now-defunct "SOP." When she made the shock transfer to ABS-CBN last year, Jona explained: "Siguro po kasi mas nabigyan po nila ako ng tiwala sa ngayon. At kumbaga, mayroon po talagang naka-lineup na project for me."
As a Star Magic artist, Jona appears on "ASAP" as part of "The Birit Queens" with Angeline Quinto, Klarisse, and Morissette. She also sang the theme song for the afternoon series "We Will Survive" and the hit film "Barcelona: A Love Untold." Photo from @jona_viray on Instagram
Pressman spent close to a decade with GMA-7 and TV5 before becoming a household name thanks to her appearance in "Pinoy Big Brother" and her breakthrough role in "Ang Probinsyano" as the leading lady of Coco Martin.
Speaking about her newfound fame, she said: "Nawalan na rin kasi ako noon ng work. Ngayon nagkaroon po ako ng blessings, marami po akong trabaho kaya sobrang thankful ako." Photo from @yassipressman on Instagram
Jay R spent the first 10 years of his career as a Kapuso artist. While with GMA-7, he appeared in shows such as "Narito ang Puso," "Duet for Love," and "Encantadia," as well as starring in a number of movies from Regal Films.
He ushered in a new chapter when he was named as one of the contestants of hit celebrity talent show "Your Face Sounds Familiar." On his transfer, he said in 2015: "I'm not taking away anything from GMA. I'm not taking anything away at all, kasi they gave me the opportunity from the beginning, 'di ba?"
"But, you know, sooner or later, you wanna try new things, you wanna experience new adventures. So, heto ang nangyayari sa akin ngayon. Sinasabi ko nga na I'm starting from the beginning again. It’s very exciting, parang first day of school, parang ganun." Photo from @rnbjayr on Instagram
She made the switch to ABS-CBN just a day after the conclusion of her teleserye with GMA-7, "Poor Senorita," catching many of her Kapuso fans by surprise. Once a mainstay of "SOP," her appearance on "It's Showtime" in July last year marked a new chapter in her career.
Explaining her decision to leave her home network for more than a decade, she said: "Like any child, sometimes you have to grow up and you want to break free from something that you're so used to doing and fly. And for me, flying now and doing this with ABS-CBN is something I know God has planned for me." Photo from @jayasoul on Instagram
Alcasid found himself outside the limelight after leaving GMA-7, a network he has long been associated with, back in 2013 for TV5. But his decision to return to ABS-CBN, where he did a few shows in the early 1990s, helped breathe new life into his struggling career. "Thankful ako sa TV5 at hindi nila ako nire-restrict. Let's face it, wala naman kaming show ngayon... wala kaming ibang content kung saan ako puwede lumabas, so naiintindihan naman nila 'yon," he explained in an interview last year.

There was little bitterness when Kyla decided to leave GMA-7, her home for around 15 years, to join ABS-CBN back in 2015. "Naging nice po 'yung exit," she shared at the time. "Actually, very happy po ako kasi everyone there, colleagues ko, co-artists, big bossings, they're all happy and supportive sa desisyon po na nagawa ko."
Aside from singing the theme song for the hit primetime series "On the Wings of Love," topbilled by James Reid and Nadine Lustre, Kyla is currently part of "Tawag ng Tanghalan" as one of the judges. Photo from @kylaalvarez on Instagram
