MANILA – Paul Soriano revealed that his wife, actress Toni Gonzaga, also played a huge role in coming up with the concept and script of his movie, "Siargao."

Speaking on ANC’s "Headstart" Friday, Soriano said he sought Gonzaga’s opinions throughout the process.

"She's by my side. She does [read the script]. She's also an actress. She's an artist in her own right so it's also awesome to get her opinion, especially from her filmography of romantic-comedies. In all my films, especially 'Siargao' because this dealt with the romance genre, she was really active and was helping me out with it," he said.

Soriano said he even brought Gonzaga and their one-year-old son, Seve, to Siargao before he started filming it.

According to Soriano, being a father has also artistically changed him.

"Oh yes. It exercises my peripherals. I used to just see straightforward. Now I see the left and the right especially with a little boy running around the house. You have to be alert. But yes, I see everything differently. There’s this new energy inside me. I live for my little boy now. I am also now a child again," he said.

"Siargao" is an entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. It stars Jericho Rosales, Erich Gonzales, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

With its release date fast approaching, Soriano is hoping moviegoers could also give their film a chance.

"It's an escape film. It's one of those films where [you ask if] you need to go home to find yourself, or do you need to go somewhere unfamiliar to find yourself? In Jericho's case, he goes home to find himself. Si Erich naman, she goes to an unfamiliar place to find herself. And then Jasmine plays the local girl. There's the love triangle there. First love, new love," he said.

"Siargao" opens in cinemas on December 25.
