MANILA - It has been said that good things come in threes. And after the success of "Love You to the Stars and Back" and "Last Night," it looks like Star Cinema has another hit with "Seven Sundays."
The studio announced Thursday that the new family drama from Cathy Garcia-Molina earned P10 million during its opening day.
It premiered Wednesday, almost a week after "Blade Runner 2049" dropped in local cinemas. The release was also timed in the weeks before the debut of Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok."
"Seven Sundays" boasts a cast that includes Ronaldo Valdez, Dingdong Dantes, Aga Muhlach, Enrique Gil, and Cristine Reyes. It centers on a widower who tells his kids that he only has seven weeks left to live.
It is Muhlach's first film in five years, and is Dantes' sixth film with Star Cinema. This is Gil's follow-up big screen project to his massively successful "My Ex and Whys" with Liza Soberano.
It is the latest from Star Cinema following "Love You to the Stars and Back," which made P102 million in more than two weeks in September, and "Last Night," which earned P60 million in seven days.
