MANILA, Philippines - The team of Gerald Anderson ruled the Star Magic All-Star Game on Sunday, beating Daniel Padilla's team, 93-90, at the Araneta Coliseum.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News after the game, Anderson said it was their teamwork that led the Blue Team to victory.
"Tignan mo naman medyo kaunti lang ang sumisigaw para sa amin pero at the end of the day, it's teamwork," he said.
What's important, according to Anderson, was that many people enjoyed the game.
This sentiment was also shared by Padilla.
"Sa huli medyo kinulang pero ang importante nag-enjoy 'yung fans. Hindi naman natin alam kung sino ang mananalo talaga. Okay lang. Enjoy naman kaming lahat," he said.
Meanwhile, both team captains downplayed the "little scuffle" that transpired between Padilla and one of Anderson's teammates, actor JC de Vera, during the game.
"It's part of the game. Sabi ko sa kanya (Karla Estrada, Padilla's mother) relax lang, kasama 'yun. It just shows how passionate everyone is about the game kaya umabot sa ganun," said Anderson.
Padilla, for his part, said what happened was actually normal in a basketball game.
"Ganun talaga. Alam niyo naman ang basketball, ang emosyon hindi napipigilan. Siyempre nagkakainitan dahil pisikal ang laro. Pero nakita niyo naman na okay din kaagad," he said.
Padilla said he and de Vera immediately apologized to each other after what happened.
Anderson was hailed as the Most Valuable Player and joining him in the Mythical Five were Padilla, Ronnie Alonte, Young JV and Zanjoe Marudo.
The Star Magic All Star Basketball will air on August 20 on ABS-CBN after "ASAP," and on Sports and Action on the same date at 8 p.m.
