In the just-released romance-comedy flick "I Love You, Hater," Joshua Garcia plays a "faker," Joko — a young man who pretends to be gay in order to get a coveted job.
Having lied to his family about working abroad (he actually isn't), Joko applies for a local, high-paying position that's only open to women and gay men, that of being the personal assistant of digital media magnate Sasha Imperial (Kris Aquino).
A straight man, Joko puts on a "beki" persona, with some challenges. The same is true for the actor, Garcia, who shared in an interview on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" that aired Monday how he tackled the role.
Seated beside his rumored girlfriend and co-star Julia Barretto, Garcia went on to channel Joko in his interview with Abunda, both impressing and amusing the host and the audience.
