James Reid explained his decision to skip the MYX Music Awards 2018, revealing that he's been resting for his upcoming concerts.
The singer made a clean sweep of the top awards, including Artist of the Year, but he wasn't there to accept them.
He shared on Twitter this Wednesday that he regrets not attending the awards show, which was decided by fan votes.
He thanked those who supported him, but added that he didn't write his album "Palm Dreams" to win trophies.
"I did it because I wanted to create music, which is something I believe I was meant for, and to redefine 'mainstream' music in the Philippines," he said.
"Thank you [MYX] and all who voted for believing in my talent and recognizing all the hard work and dedication that went into my music and for supporting my creativity and vision!"
Nadine Lustre, who also won an award for co-directing Reid's music video for "The Life," was also a no-show.
In a similarly regretful tone, Lustre apologized on Instagram Stories for both her and Reid, and said that the ceremony "looks like a lot of fun" after seeing the photos shared on social media.
