Hosts congratulate rival program 'Eat Bulaga' on award

MANILA - The hosts of ABS-CBN's "It's Showtime," led by comedian Vice Ganda, congratulated rival program "Eat Bulaga" on its latest recognition in the recently held Golden Screen TV Awards.

They also greeted "Eat Bulaga" host Vic Sotto, who turned 61 on April 28, in the opening segment of "It's Showtime" on Tuesday.

The TAPE, Inc. production, which has been on air for 36 years, was named Outstanding Variety Program in the Entertainment Press Society awards show. "It's Showtime" was also nominated in the same category.

Vice Ganda won Outstanding Male Host for "It's Showtime," while "Eat Bulaga" mainstay Julia Clarete was named his female counterpart.

Meanwhile, in the latter part of "It's Showtime" Tuesday, a contestant drew laughs when she greeted audience members as "Dabarkads," a term popularized by "Eat Bulaga." The ABS-CBN show refers to its viewers and studio audience as "madlang people."
