MANILA -- When Kim Chiu started running and cycling, it was mainly for the series "Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin" where she played a duathlete.
The "Da One That Ghost Away" actress, however, revealed that she eventually fell in love with the sport.
"Nae-enjoy ko tumakbo. Nae-enjoy ko mag-bike. 'Yung pagod ang sarap," Chiu said on "Magandang Buhay," describing her fulfillment every time she finishes a race.
"Nung una para sa role lang talaga 'yun. Tapos lagi na naming siyang ginagawa. Tapos nakita ko, nawala 'yung puson ko. Kapag tumatakbo ako or nagba-bike ako, nawawala 'yung stubborn fats. Nawala din 'yung hika ko," she added.
Aside from helping her become stronger and more fit, Chiu said participating in races also gives her an exhilarating feeling.
"Kapag nakikita ko sa mga lalagyan ko ng award, meron na din akong award ng sports, masarap sa feeling. Lalo na kapag nag-cross ka ng finish line, grabe nakakaiyak lagi," she said.
The actress joined her first-ever duathlon race in March last year. At that time, Chiu revealed that she decided to change her lifestyle by becoming more active.
She also participated in the Pilipinas Duathlon Series 2018 held in Clark, Pampanga in February.
Although she encounters some obstacles during races, Chiu said she always clings to her faith and determination to get a finisher’s medal.
