There are 2 new characters joining the "Home Sweetie Home" family — and they'll both be played by Ogie Alcasid.
The singer-comedian will be portraying twins Ireneo and Irenea.
The former is a childhood friend of Julie (Toni Gonzaga), who's interested in investing in her idea of opening a pastry shop and café; Irenea isn't, complicating things.
The other twist is that Ireneo is head over heels attracted to Julie, while Irenea falls for JP (Piolo Pascual), Julie's friend who's still trying to move on from a broken heart.
This storyline of Julie looking to distract JP from his love failings by keeping him busy, and her attempts to raise money for her family will be the focus of the show in the coming months.
It's also part of Julie's plan to save cash so that Romeo can come home from abroad for good, paving the way for a possible return for John Lloyd Cruz, one of the show's original stars.
In an interview with reporters on Tuesday, Gonzaga acknowledged that she's not hopeful over Cruz making a comeback.
She did say, however, that "she's open to whatever it is that's going to happen."
"We'll just take it one day at a time," Gonzaga said, adding that "whatever Romeo has contributed to the show will always remain part of it" and that Pascual was not a direct "replacement" but a "great addition" to the cast.
"Home Sweetie Home" has been on air for more than 4 years.
