MANILA – With mega-hits “Got to Believe” and “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” having a devoted audience in Vietnam, it can’t be denied: KathNiel fever has spread as far as the Philippines’ Southeast Asian neighbor.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were named Favorite Foreign TV Actress and Actor, respectively, in the just concluded Blue Star Award – Face of the Year Awards in Vietnam.

Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent arm that manages Bernardo and Padilla’s careers, announced the latest accolade for the on- and off-screen sweethearts on Instagram.

One post showed footage from the awards ceremony, where video messages from Padilla and Bernardo were played.

They expressed gratitude to their Vietnamese fans who had voted for them to win, and apologized for not being able to personally accept the award.

The Filipino nominees in their categories also included JC de Vera and Mikael Daez for favorite actor, and Meg Imperial and Andrea Torres for favorite actress.

“Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” Bernardo and Padilla’s 2015 drama series, was also nominated as favorite foreign TV series, alongside “Moon of Desire,” also from ABS-CBN, and the GMA-produced “Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga”.

This isn’t the first time KathNiel was given awards in Vietnam. In 2015, they were also named best foreign TV actor and actress in that year’s Face of the Year ceremony.
