MANILA - The International Finance Corp said Wednesday it made "good business sense" to increase the participation of women in business, as the world observed Women's Month.

Women control up to $28 trillion dollars of the world's total purchasing power, IFC financial investment officer Val Bagatsing told ANC's Market Edge with Cathy Yang.

In the Philippines, women make up 58 percent of the IFC's workforce compared to the global average of 15 percent, and 30 percent in companies where the IFC is invested in.

The IFC is a sister organization of the World Bank that is focused on private entities.
