MANILA - Government officials on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated Tuguegarao Airport, as part of efforts to improve the country's transport infrastructure, the Department of Transportation said.
The improvements include refurbished walls, floor tiles, ceiling panels and new columns, the DOTr said in a statement.
"Our goal is to improve and develop our airports all over the country. The airport is the first thing that a traveler sees when visiting a place, and we should be able to make a great first impression,” said Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade, who inspected the terminal.
last year, the runway and taxiway of the airport were widened while the Airfield Lighting System was upgraded, DOTr said.
The improvements are part of the first phase of the Tuguegarao Airport Development Project, DOTr undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.
The 2nd phase, which is expected to commence this year, includes the expansion of the pre-departure and check-in areas of the passenger terminal building, he said.
