It is no secret that a healthy diet is key for a healthy body. One is told, for example, to eat tomatoes for good skin and drink milk for good bones.

For great hair, these are everybody's friends:

1. Spinach

Not only does spinach give Popeye his legendary strength, it also helps battle brittle hair. Spinach contains important nutrients such as Vitamin A, iron, beta carotene, folate, and Vitamin C,according to the US Department of Agriculture's nutrient database. These work together for a healthy scalp and mane.

2. Carrots

More famously good for the eyes, carrots are also good for the hair. Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which the body turns into Vitamin A, which in turn helps produce scalp-sustaining oils.

3. Eggs

Eggs are rich in protein--they have, in fact, the highest biological value for protein, according to health magazine WebMD. It also gives iron and biotin, a vitamin that is essential to prevent hair loss.

5. Grapes

Grapes are celebrated for being good for the heart. In addition, their seeds have also been found to contain antioxidants which help increase circulation of blood and encourage hair growth.

Grape seeds also contain oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC), which prevent dihydrotestosterone production, a main factor in hair loss. At the same time, OPC stimulates the growth of hair follicles.

Grape seed extract may not easily be found in local stores, but it can be found in hair care products available in the market, such as Dove’s Hair Fall range.

The new Dove Hair Fall Range contains potent grape seed extract and Dynazinc technology which gives you dual action protection to lock hair from the roots and strengthen strands.
