Families from Cavite and nearby provinces found an opportunity to bond at the third annual "Grand Family Weekend".
The event by Lancaster New City kicked off with a zumba session as runners warmed up for the main course, which was the three-kilometer "FUN & RUN."
Awaiting them was an obstacle course where they had to jump over tires, dodge swinging big balls, slide through an inflatable slide, and run through mascots to reach the inflatable Mt. Fun.
The obstacles, coupled with the sunny weather, proved to be a challenge, but it did not stop the participating families from enjoying quality bonding time.
"Sobrang saya, siyempre nag-enjoy 'yung mga kids and then first time nilang ma-experience 'yung mga obstacle," said Venus Domincel, who ran alongside her kids.
As for the family of Danilo Solis who came all the way from Bingangon, Rizal, the run was more fun than tiring.
"Masaya kasi...nagpapasaya ang mga obstacle eh, kaya hindi namin naranasan 'yung pagod, talagang pampamilya," said Solis.
But aside from family bonding, the runners also helped in the event's cause, which was to provide new pair of shoes to the school children of Brgy. Tampucao in Lambunao and Brgy. Talongonan in Passi, Iloilo.
"We have children there who walk to school for two kilometers, barefoot, so for every registration for this 'Fun & Run,' we're able to provide them with a pair of shoes," said David Michael Amor, Assistant Vice President for Marketing of Lancaster New City.
Domincel was happy that they were able to bond for a cause.
"Kasi siyempre 'pag once na nakakatulong ka... iba ang saya na nanggagaling sa puso," explained Domincel. "Nakapag-bonding pa kami ng mga kids, kumbaga, na-exercise, and at the same time nakatulong."
The families finished the race with smiles, knowing that they were able to help the communities who are in need.
