While cover pictorials usually require a whole range of lights, high-powered cameras, and lenses, Metro Magazine's shoot with beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach was surprisingly free of bulky equipment.

Instead, the fashion and lifestyle magazine's lensman carried only a mobile phone, and a handheld image stabilizer.

The cover of Metro's anniversary issue, shot using a Huawei P20 Pro, featured Wurtzbach's show-stopping beauty in scorchingly full-colored glory.

Miss Universe 2015 Wurtzbach had also previously posed on the cover of Metro, which was shot with a Huawei P10 Plus.

The Huawei P20 Pro has three high-resolution cameras, dubbed the Leica Triple Camera, which allows users to take clear photos in most conditions, even with low light.

Clement Wong, Huawei's Head of Global Product Marketing, said the phone bears the features of a professional camera, in a lighter and more portable body.

"[The] Huawei P20 Pro can compete with DSLRs. One thing why we're much better than them is we're very handy, very small, very compact, at the same time it is super easy to use," he said.

The Huawei P20 Pro's Leica Triple Camera comprises a 20 megapixel (MP) monochrome camera, a 40 MP RGB camera, and an 8 MP telephoto camera. The phone is also equipped with a 24 MP front camera with LED flash and artificial intelligence-driven 3D facial enhancement for high-quality selfies.

Wurtzbach, a self-professed selfie queen, said she is satisfied with the quality of images taken using the Huawei P20 Pro.

"I use it myself. Hindi ako professional, hindi ako photographer, but the camera will adjust itself depending on what kind of picture I'm taking," she said.

The Huawei P20 Pro was given 109 points by DxOMark, a leading image quality measurement and ratings website, setting a new benchmark for mobile phones. The P20 Pro outscored its rivals by a margin of over 10 points.

Huawei Philippines Country Manager George Li said the brand will continue to set the standard of quality in smartphone technology. He added that the brand will continue listening to their customers' demands and needs to further improve their smartphones.

More information about the new Huawei P20 and P20 Pro can be found on the Huawei website, Facebook, and Instagram.
